What Will I Learn?

• Identify and practice personal behaviors that minimize risk
• Understand and anticipate common non-lethal riot-control weapons
• Dealing with potential aggressors- including the police
• Explain key factors of mob violence
• Appreciate the importance of situational awareness
• Explain major riot control chemical agents and basic first-aid and self-aid for each.
• Determine ways to mitigate business losses due to civil disturbances.

Requirements

• None. Course is presented in English. Although it may be of interest to international students, content focuses on an American perspective and the U.S. legal system.

Target audience

• As civil unrest in the United States is becoming more frequent and violent, this course is tailored for any individual who may find themselves in close proximity to an angry, aggressive crowd. These include, but are not limited to:
• Journalists and media crews
• Contract and proprietary security professionals responsible for the day-to-day protection of their organization.
• Security providers specifically employed to manage the safety of clients during periods of civil unrest.
• Small business owners/managers concerned about the safety of their property and employees
• Campus managers with a large, multi-building foot-print. (i.e. corporations, hospitals, educational organizations)
• Anyone who may be required to enter a "hot zone" as part of their job. For example, utility workers and ambulance crews)
• Corporate training departments seeking to expand their workplace violence curriculum.
