What Will I Learn?

• Identify precursors to fires and understand the fire theory as defined by the fire triangle (or tetrahedron)
• Understand the basic principles of fire fighting including principles, extinguishing agents, methods and equipment.
• Identify the classification of fires according to the NFPA and ISO and determine the similarities and differences
• Identify the various types of fire extinguishers to extinguish different types of fires
• Determine the fire fighting arrangements that can be used in the workplace alongside the various equipment that can be utilised to protect the workplace
• Gain an understanding of the various standards guiding fire protection in the workplace
• Become familiar with the principles and practice of fire risk assessment.
• Become familiar with Fire Exits, Emergency Exit Routes, Signs, Emergency Lighting & Fire Alarms.
• Develop effective fire emergency arrangements within the workplace

Requirements

• Foundational knowledge of HSE will be helpful for proper understanding of this course
• Health, Safety and Environment Essentials (HSE Level 1) course is recommended
