What Will I Learn?

• Interventions Used for Couples: Accessing Unacknowledged Feelings, Partners may be tempted to regulate their attachment system by suppressing negative emotion
• An Expansion of Emotions: Couples actively engage with emotions in the here and now by processing and discovering the source of the emotion.
• Using "I statements" and validation statements with partners allows couples to confirm a deeper understanding of their partners experience and emotions,.
• Evocative Reflections and Questions, Evocative reflections are intended to expand each partner’s understanding of the relationship.
• The CCWs teach couples to stay with the emotional process while encouraging a reorganization and processing of their experience.
• Tracking and Reflecting Patterns and Cycles of Interaction: Couples Communication Workshops (CCW) help couples to identify their contributions to the issue.
• Reframing the Problem: The CCWs teach couples to reframe their interactions in terms of attachment activations rather than perceived assaults.
